[Insert Deck Name here]Hexproof Auras
I. Introduction
Hexproof Auras is a deck that plays cheap Hexproof creatures and enchants those with cheap Auras to create beaters that are nearly impossible to beat in combat or remove from the battlefield. The deck is explosive and built so that it gets a lot of value from cheap spells and therefore can have a really low manicure.
Hexproof strategy has long been a tier2 strategy in classic pauper metagame, but RTR and the printing of Ethearal Armor really made the deck viable and tier1. All hexproof decks are green based with white splash, but some decks might also have few blue or even red cards in them.
Hexproof isn't one of the cheapest decks and actually has some really expensive cards in it. Budget version of the deck however is pretty competitive also and cheap to build. I will cover the budget version in post#2.
II. The Deck
Lands
The deck typically runs pretty straightforward manabase with 16-18 lands. Mainly Forests with possibly some combination of Plains, Selesnya Guildgates and Shimmering Grottoes in the mix. Some people have played also tried a Land Grant versions of the deck.
Creatures
The deck only typically runs 16 creatures, but they are hard to deal with.
Slippery Bogle: One mana 1/1 with hexproof
Gladecover Scout: One mana 1/1 with hexproof
Silhana Ledgewalker: Hexproof with evasion
Aura Gnarlid: Huge unblockable beater, only creature in the deck vulnerable to removal
Creature Auras
These auras are used to create huge beaters. Some of the auras scale up with how many enchantments you control and therefore the deck plays very many enchantments.
Rancor: Power boost and trample
Ethearal Armor: Big P/T boost and first strike
Ancestral Mask: Big P/T boost
Armadillo Cloak: Lifelink, Trample and P/T boost
Asha's Favor: Some decks run this as a 1-of to get Flying and Vigilance
Manafixing
The deck needs the access to white mana. Enchant lands ensure that with added benefits.
Abundant Growth: Manafixing and cantrips.
Lush Growth: Manafixing or manadenial (against UB)
Utopia Sprawl: Manafixing
Wild Growth: Ramp
Manamorphose: Spell that fixes and cantrips.
