Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to Magic and I was concerned about the cost, so when I found out that pauper existed I was very excited. I'd already made a standard deck (which I've already posted in the relevant section) when I found out about the podcast and the forums, so I decided to join. I play MTGO almost exclusively (my real life friends play Magic, but all they do is draft and I can't really keep up with that kind of spending), so if you ever see me online, hit me up for a game

MDU here - I'm a returnee MTGO player I used to only play standard back in the day but had to give it up due to life catching up, lucky for me I chance happen to watch a few videos from MagicGatheringStrat which reignited my passion for the game in the form of pauper . Now I'm a regular tournament grinder playing mainly Pauper and Modern (since my old standard deck is now modern ) with some Momir every now and again.

Hello,
Doppel here from Germany
I played magic when I was in school but gave it up because most of my partners either stopped to play or got way more professional than me. Not to mention that I had not much money to spend.
I recently rediscovered Magic and now try to draft more or less regularly. Since someone wants to hold a standard pauper tournament in the local comic shop I stumbled upon this forum while brewing a deck for said tournament.
Pleased to meet you all.

Hey Paupers!
MGTO Username: Budski RL Username: Alex
I have just got back into playing MTG, but this time solely online. I am originally from the UK but now I have moved to China and therefore playing paper is not really an option for me now (however there is a GP in Hong Kong in a few months so I will mosey on there and play some paper for nostalgias sake!). I started playing paper MTG when the Revised core set was available. I did have a pretty extensive collection back in the day, but then I found the joys of sex, drugs and Rock 'n' Roll and sold my collection to fund my habits!
Initially I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of new sets and cards that have been released in my absence, but then I noticed the pauper format which I thought would be quite interesting whilst also being (relatively) affordable, although I would like to try out other formats soon to add variety - it's the spice of life don't ya know! I then found the Pauper to the People podcast and started listening and enjoying! (Great job, thanks guys!)
Would be great to play and meet with some of you guys!
Take care!

Hi all, just joined following meeting Avery in a game on mtgo. I started playing paper magic last October. The FNM group I attend runs std pauper once a month which is awesome as its been great to learn deck building compared to the cost of playing the other formats, it's also been great as the group is 70/30 magic experts/magic newbs, so us newbs get a chance to play on a level field while we are still building a collection (also many of the long term players have started to get hooked on the format). I am playing on MTGO now also, as I really want to improve my skills (as well as the reason that magic is basically more addictive than crack lol).

Hi, My name is Mark I started playing casually (at school) in 1997 just after 5th Edition came out and up until Mirrodin. Just recently after M13 was released I got back into it and started playing a bit more competitively, there is a place that holds tournaments about once a month near me. I started watching You Tube (Rogue Deckbuilder mainly) and wished I could play more but didn't want to spend money on cards twice (RL and MTGO), I always thought that Pauper would be a substandard format, until I saw Dan's videos at MTGOstrat, so here I am now. I am currently playing Naya Humans in Standard, Blood Moon Werewolves / Heartless Summoning Artifacts in Modern and Hexproof / Blue Aggro in Pauper.

I don't know If I've already posted on here before, but here goes: My name is Budgeteer, a 17 year old from California whose play time is restricted by the monetary cost of the game, school, angry parents, and having to share a computer with a brother. Regardless, I love to brew and downright refuse to play anything good in the meta. I hate Standard/Standard Pauper because the cardpool is too small. I love Classic Pauper/Commander/Legacy/Modern because the cardpool is larger, and I can build what I want and be relatively sure that it can at least do well. I do not play on MTGO due to me not owning a credit card/debit card. I, however, get to test on Cockatrice every now and then. This is kind of a pain though, because I'll make decks then find out that some of the commons were never printed at common rarity on MTGO. That being said, I still manage to construct very reasonable decks and have one built in paper: My Kuldotha Boros deck that has been running very well recently- it has a decent game against every deck in the format. I currently am constructing a Bant Captured Sunlight deck that uses Wild Mongrel, Gush, and Captured Sunlight in a mix between midrange and aggro depending on your opening hand. Captured Sunlight is especially good when you run Brainstorm and Werebear; essentially allowing you to build-your-own Loxodon Hierarch. These are just two of the decks I have built for Pauper, and have many more on my Cockatrice deck database. I am also working on a Giantbaiting Tokens build that utilizes Giantbaiting and tokens for big smashes and a GW Cloudpost blink deck that runs Fierce Empath to tutor one of the following: Titanic Bulvox, Maul Splicer, and Walker of the Grove along with Cloudshift and Angelic Renewal to overpower your opponent. I love this deck because it plays a lot like the old Astral Slide decks. If you're looking for something new to play, just talk to me I guaranteed have something. (I don't know how to tag on here really)
