Right now, I mainly focus on Commander/EDH, Modern and Pauper. I also have a Cube, though unfortunately I do not get to use it often enough. Do you write for MTGS Cube forums? Avatar&nick is so familiar. My Ava there is Woolly Thoctar if it rings any bells and username is the same

I find the place to be a little crowded if that makes any sense. But yeah, I try to keep the same name and avatar for Magic. Makes things easier when dealing with people around the 'net on different websites.

Starting playing magic when Mirage came out. Took numerous breaks.
I have a lame 9-5 job. Otherwise I play drums in a band, help edit Commandercast, and also work on indy films whenever I can.

I played Magic briefly back in the 1990s, around Ice Age, and picked it back up around M11 being released. Mostly just casual play with buddies, although I've started playing a few FNM Standard events and even took 1st place once(!). I mostly play at the Dugout in Sartell, MN, where I overheard Mr. Younkin discussing pauper with other players. I started doing some research into the format and came up with a couple ideas for decks, so now I'm here to get feedback. I'm hoping to play at one of the Dugout's pauper tournaments soon.

I'm a video game developer currently finishing off an MMO. I'm married and have a 3 year old daughter who takes up most of my free time.
I've started playing magic with Urza's Saga and got a little bit into casual/competitive environment (FNMs and the like) once in a while as life allowed for it. After my daughter was born I had less and less time until the only magic I was playing was just at prereleases.
After missing the M11 prerelease I decided to try out MTGO as an option to fit some magic into my life and found it to be an excellent way to play magic (once you got over the horrible user interface). I didn't want to spend too much on this hobbie so I started by just playing some sealed/draft events and building casual decks to play in the new player room. As my card collection built up I was able to cheaply make a couple of competitive block constructed decks (Scars of Mirrodin). I also realized that it was relatively easy to buy a few cards that were currently at a low price, wait for them to go up, then sell them back for a profit. This allowed me to play basically for free and even start building up a small collection of tix.
As block decks got more expensive I decided to take the plunge into pauper. Before trying to build my own deck I wanted to understand the metagame so I started with a cheap but fun deck, White Weenie. I enjoyed it so much I started building the other cheap decks (mono blue, mono black, goblins, burn..) and then started looking for sales on the more expensive cards to build other decks. Right now I have quite a few built up, but unfortunately, my skill level is too low and I haven't been able to even 3-1 a daily. I'm hoping to learn some more from this league and this community in general.

Welcome Gabo! Out of curiosity, are you working for a specific gaming studio?

I'll let my location be a strong hint as to what studio I work for. I usually avoid mentioning it by name so as to stay clear of any possible PR issues if I happen to write an opinion that could cause any sort of negative reaction

I have started playing in Onslaught, took a break, and came back during Lorwyn block. I then went to a store with a friend, and they were playing this odd format with only commons, every saturday. I wanted to join in, and thats how i got into pauper. I don't have MTGO, and people stopped playing paper pauper at my LFGS, and that sucks, since i love the format so much.
I found this forum thanks to the podcast. To anyone who listens to the show, i'm the guy from Rio de Janeiro, the one who stupidly mistyped Mike as Mark.
Anything else, feel free to ask.

Hi everyone, I'm the one William mentioned in the podcast who is the jerk that doesn't want to reveal his MBC build [Note: @ Chris: you haven't sent me an email yet xD] I started around Mirage (man... I'm old...), had a break after the Torment block until Ravnica. I mainly play casual. I used to play Legacy (Mono Black non-Suicide and Eva Green) but stopped eventually due to time constrictions. Until now, I've only played Paper Magic in my local community. We had some Pauper League going with a maximum number of participants being 18. Unfortunately many people moved away (I live in a so-called "University town", i.e. 24k out of 130k citizens are university students, however, many students - e.g. coming from abroad - are not registered and therefore not counted. As many magic players are students, it is quite obvious that there is quite some turn over) or don't have the time anymore to play. Most of the new players are either not interested in Pauper (since they want to play their "when-this-spell-resolves-you-freaking-lose-the-game-unless-the-sun-explodes-and-simultaneously-a-meteor-hits-the-earth-" cards instead of a bunch of 1/1s or 2/2s. I guess I drifted off a bit... anyway. Since I can't really play Paper Pauper anymore, I still wanted to contribute to the Pauper community and I hope I can do so by joining the PttP society.
