Sadly lost the match tonight 1-2.
Still, was a fun first couple games, even if the third one made me sad.
Damn you Flame Slash!
And your little dog too!

I managed to take down my match 2-1. The games we had seemed pretty variance-based, unfortunately, but that's magic sometimes. Kennon has a great sense of humor, so I had a bunch of fun even when the games were unexciting.
Flame Slash -- crushing hopes and dreams since ROE

Flame Slash is definitively one of the best removal spells. It is in some decks even better than Lightning Bolt... How weird the world of Magic has become...

What creatures (that are played in tier1) die to a Flame Slash, but not to a LB? I can't name a single one off the top of my head, but I am sure there are some.

Define tier one ^^
What immediately pops into my head are Razor Golem, Myr Enforcer, and Aurochs Herd. Furthermore that one point of damage is quite critical against Infect, too.

Also the island golem and mogg flunkies backed by the sac +1+1 goblin. You can also kill an eldrazi with just 2. I think they're all relevant

Sure they are. Actually there are quite many cases where the one dmg matters...

What creatures (that are played in tier1) die to a Flame Slash, but not to a LB? I can't name a single one off the top of my head, but I am sure there are some. The specific targets I have in mind when running them are Quicksilver Drake, Razor Golem, and Myr Enforcer. Generally, it's a very efficient removal spell that can deal with most threats -- even ones you might not expect from the established metagame. Plus, when you have a bolt and need to deal with a 4-toughness creature, it feels reeeally bad; when you do have the Flame Slash it feels equally good. As for our match specifically, in two games I drew all of my slashes at pretty much the perfect times, which was a source of consternation/amusement depending on which side of the table you were on.

Everyone else played but jcrodd and timonator? If they can't meet, we can maybe give them a chance to play the round later?

G/W Cloak mirror match would be pretty interesting to see. I love that deck, but when it whiffs there's not much you can do... sort of like infect. You need the right balance of creatures and auras/pumps in your first few turns. One of the games I played against Matt he had 3 Rancors on a Silhana Ledgewalker on turn 3 or 4 I think, was looking sweet, but I drew a Martyr of Ashes and wiped the board. I could tell he was frustrated because he still had those Rancors rest of the game, but the critters weren't coming up for him. What I think that deck really needs is an enchantment tutor, which isn't available in pauper to my knowledge, because what you really want is an Armadillo Cloak. I got two Armadillo Cloaks on a Guardian of the Guildpact once and it gave me that warm feeling all over.
(edit) Just found Totem-Guide Hartebeest... too spendy mana-wise though. Maybe a 2 of in the deck.

Next round will be posted this evening. Sick son, sick me. This weekend was not fun. Sorry to hear that. Hope you and your boy are doing okay. Really, the round and pairings can wait - it's no big deal if it's late. Health comes first. Beside, it's a great opportunity to get the full cuddly treatment from the wife, which is always awesome. ;D Take care.
