www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/arcana/1196So let's begin discussion(speculation) about the set. I am hoping and maybe even expecting this set to be tribal based at some level. The last tribal block was Lorwyn/Shadowmoor and that is quite a long time ago. Meanwhile we have had gold sets, GY set and Artifact set. Tribal would also fit in well with Greek mythology (which will influence Theros block for sure!)

I think we will definitely see Avatars in the block if the god theme is present. But I am hoping tribal cards/synergies also. Something minor even.

Yeah... ;D Reminds me of the old days when I was trying to build a deck with the Anaba and Talruum minotaurs... and Didgeridoo. Hehe. But I don't know how I feel about this. On one hand I love mythology. On the other, mythology is not fantasy per se. I'm a little worried that we'll see Kamigawa all over again: a block with great flavour but with a theme which doesn't really "fit" with the rest. We'll see. And for some reason I can't shake the feeling that we'll see some kind of new card type: like planeswalker cards but for demi-gods or such.

Hehehe. I don't know, could be fun. Or... oh oh!!! They bring back Level Up and you need to level up a creature from mortal to god! Or Epic spells! Or another good red 1-drop for my Cube! That be great!! Okay, too much sugary chocolate here. I'll quiet down now.

I feel a bit MEH about Greek Mythology but I guess it can be decent. I was hoping for a return to Dominaria and Urza and Mishra finally released as extremely expensive and powerful Planeswalkers

Mishra and Urza as a PW? Hmmm... I am not familiar with the whole storyline and flavor of the game ect. but I am in that belief that Urza and Mishra would be too powerful PW's and they (wotc) kinda started over with the new PW's in Lorwyn because of that?

Exactly. Prerevisionist planeswalkers - those who appeared before the Dominarian temporal crisis - were nearly godlike in powers: characters who were much too powerful to appear on any single card. The neo-walkers are considerably less powerful, which allows them to actually see print as cards and which also makes them a lot more indentifiable as characters. Besides, Mishra was never a planeswalker. A powerful artificer for sure, but his spark never ignited.
