I heard Matti talking about Pauper in Finland, so I have to throw it out there: Does anyone know anything about Pauper in Sweden?

I am pretty sure you are the first Swedish member in the Community. Check out the Pauper's Cage podcast also, one of their hosts is from Sweden actually and can maybe know something

This is pretty cool to me.
We've got a bunch of people from the United States. Gabochido is Canadian. Matti from Finland. ANZ is from Brazil, I believe (and apologies if I got that one wrong). High_Gene is from Germany. Some Polish members. And now sissela from Sweden.
I'm sure there are a number of countries out the that I haven't mentioned, but this is awesome. Realistically, I would have never had the opportunity to talk to people throughout the world without this show, and I'm grateful to be able to do so.

Hi Sissela,
The podcaster Matti is refering to is called Grusbus on MTGO. His real life name is Love. Add him as a buddy on mtgo and message him. I know him well and he'll surely be pleased to talk to a fellow countryman.
Gabo.

How do you guys feel about Pauper growth as a format? Do you feel were doing enough to make it popular?
I was wondering about that issue lately.
I think this format is doing pretty well on an international scale but we're lacking local communities in countries like Belgium, Czech, Hungary and such.

I think the format really suffers from the obvious lack of support from Wizards, as they earn so little money on it. But I would really like to see it take off in Sweden, for example. I have never heard of any paper pauper here at all.

I think this format is doing pretty well on an international scale but we're lacking local communities in countries like Belgium, Czech, Hungary and such. The lack of Paper events, even unsanctioned stuff through local stores, is what's holding the format back, I believe. When I was in Minnesota, at the Dugout, it was an energetic and excited community that was interested in Pauper, and it was a breath of fresh air. I can't get that to happen at my LGS, because players only want sanctioned events, all the time. And while the internet is great, and having a forum is helpful, it lacks that face to face excitement you get from playing paper events.

Yea, you got that right Chris.
We used to have weekly paper pauper (and that's how i got into organized play), but my LGS no linger has that. Every 3 months or so we'll have one. There is another store that hosts them weekly, though. It's a bit far from me, but it got me happy. Also, theres another store that did some Standard Pauper tourneys too.
Pauper is somewhat popular around here, but there's plenty of room to grow.
