Since I finally registered for this board, I have a couple questions for the community that's been on my mind since I started following this format. As some of you might know, there are differences between print runs on MODO that make certain cards legal online that wouldn't be in paper. Other cards are either not available online or not printed at common. So my questions:
1) What cards would have an impact on the metagame if ALL commons were available online? I was originally thinking about Hymn to Tourach and Sinkhole but High Tide or Goblin Grenade are uncommon only online as well. Could mono-black or new combo decks rise to Tier 1?
2) Pauper is obviously a popular format online but doesn't always take root in paper format unless specifically supported in certain areas. Would the discrepancies between the lists of allowable cards be an obstacle to the growth of the format catching on in real life? I believe simpler is better when introducing and trying to grow a format.
Just some food for thought. Let me know what you think.

Having played Pauper in paper form back East, I have a couple of thoughts in the matter, coming almost exclusively from the online version.
Goblin Grenade and Hymn to Tourach are certainly format warping. I wouldn't go so far as to say they would break it, but they take the Goblin and MBC decks to an entirely different level of play.
Based off of the efforts of Nate's store, the discrepancies seem to make no difference. His area has a thriving paper Pauper community, and it seems to encourage brewing. Thus, there's almost a different metagame in his area, but they're all decks that could be easily played online as well.

Sinkhole is less of an issue than one might think. It is certainly good against Post and can mana hose an opponent, but it is fairly weak against many of the decks in the format. Against many aggro decks (goblins, delver, infect, MGA, etc) destroying a land with your t2 play is a bit of a tempo loss. In practice, it ends of being more meta-dependent or a SB card. Hymn certainly makes MBC better, but the deck still weak MUs. Likewise, goblin grenade makes goblins better, but doesn't make it dominate the meta.
The biggest change is the access to high tide. Flicker tide is an amazingly consistent and durable combo deck that is pretty great against anything outside infect and storm-based combo decks. I would argue that it is (and the frantic storm version earlier) the best deck in the format.
Personally, I don't play it in paper because it isn't very fun. Don't get me wrong, it is fun to pilot, but it is pretty non-interactive for the opponent most games. It has to protect itself from instant speed removal, but the MD bounce and tutoring for gigadrowse helps. Bouncing all their permanents, and then making the opponent draw their deck via an infinite loop isn't how most people want to lose a game of magic.
I don't have such qualms if I'm playing standard or legacy, but pauper seems to be a more casual and friendly (competitive, but not cut-throat in paper) format at the dugout. I want people to have a fun time at a tournament - not watch me play solitaire for 10 minutes, although admittedly flicker-tide wins quicker than the old style.
