Here is the conversation: I think you are absolutely right! Exchanging Sign in Blood with Read the Bones in the Trinket deck would mess up the mana curve, and I don't think the "scry 2" is worth the extra mana. At least not in that deck. The card should be able to find its way into MBC though, since the average card power in that deck is slightly lower than the average in Trinket. In fact, this should be a great boost for MBC, with 4 Signs and 4 Bones they can draw lots of cards! They can also hurt themselves a lot in the process, but I guess that is why they have Tendrils/Corrupt. /T From: dan_ (please reply in English ) Master Power_T, they have spoiled the following card in Theros mythicspoiler.com/ths/cards/readthebones.htmlI have been asked if it would be playable in Trinket. I assume they thought it would replace Sign in Blood. My answer was that if scry 2 was worth one mana in Trinket we would play Preordain all day. BUT this card is way too slow for Trinket (as Compulsive Research is) but could find a home in Mono Black Control where it could possibly replace their inferior card draw card Phyrexian Rager. It would naturally be a four-of in any black deck in Standard Pauper, but that is another matter. What do you think? /D

I'm curious about MBC in Pauper after rotation. I played it in a PDC event a while back, and managed to get 2nd place in it. But a lot of blacks removal is going to be dissapearing. I hope that they show more black support in Theros.

I love this card. I think the fact that it is not color heavy it will be easier to play. Even if you splash black it will be easier to play than Sign in Blood.

I agree that in standard pauper this will be a staple in any deck playing black, but in classic there are too many card draw sources for it to have much of a home. Perhaps in MBC? but even then I'm a little skeptical. Will it make MBC a wining list? I guess it couldn't hurt as MBC certainly isn't making it as is. Interesting card though, I'm looking forward to trying it in standard pauper.

I'd like to try and find a home for it. The ability to Scry is such a powerful mechanic.

I like UB Post decks that have removal and powerful sorceries like this and Probe. But UB draw-go will probably be better.

i could honestly see it in a GB 'rock' or possibly a ramp type deck. midrange decks that would love to play sign in blood but can't justify the BB cost
