If I may suggest: Drifting Shade. I've been running three of them in my MBC deck and they've been pretty good.
My main issue with MBC was always that the deck has a fairly narrow and straightforward game plan: disrupt and remove, do some damage with you 1/1s and 2/2s and finish off your opponent with a large Corrupt. It's a good plan, but against certain decks, it just doesn't work. The Shades have proven to be a solid alternate win condition. They are soft to Serrated Arrows, but a creature which can block a Crusher and win against it is not something to sneeze at.

If I may suggest: Drifting Shade. If I'd run a pumpable creature, it'd be Chilling Shade (obviously I'd also play Snow-covered Swamps only). My main issue with MBC was always that the deck has a fairly narrow and straightforward game plan: disrupt and remove, do some damage with you 1/1s and 2/2s and finish off your opponent with a large Corrupt. What's wrong with that? Oo Aaah, there you go but against certain decks, it just doesn't work. I'm aware of some of its negative match ups. But which decks did you have in mind? The Shades have proven to be a solid alternate win condition. They are soft to Serrated Arrows, but a creature which can block a Crusher and win against it is not something to sneeze at. They are a neat win condition but as you said yourself, they're too vulnerable. I quess I'd rather run Drain Life.
