Steam summer sale is up and I bought Torchlight, anyone else played it? Yeah, played it. It's pretty sweet. It's a Diablo clone, but some of the key developers on the game actually worked on the original Diablo. It works with some interesting concepts. It doesn't have as much replay value as the Diablo games, but it's definitely worth a playthrough.

Torchlight is a lot of fun. I played it on 360 though, so some of the stuff was a little different.
Um, trying to beat Rage and Bulletstorm. Basically, cleaning up my back log of games.

Currently finishing Fallout 3 (extra content), and failing to get all the Riddler trophys from Arkham City.

I right now am trying to slog my way through Demon's Souls. I actually haven't played it in like 4 days, cause I hate its face and want it to die. So to stay sane I have been putting together a Pez 360 cube. Really though. Having played for like 9 hours, got to a good level, goodish equipment, slowly slowly clear the 2-1 world, make it to the boss and it just tosses me around like a baby Godzilla with a hamster. Why, lord why. It took me 5 hours to beat the first level. I'm not great at games. I have been playing them starting with the atari 2600, but this game takes the pain to a whole new level.

Chris, what do you think of Rage? I picked it up used for 9 bucks, beat it in like 4 hours, and sold it back to the game shop. Pretty game, but nothing to really sink my teeth into.

Oh yeah playing Cthulu Saves the world on my Galaxy Nexus. Fun game, and I do love me some Great Old Ones.

Yeah, Demon's Souls (and Dark Souls for that matter) scares me. From what I've heard from... well, everyone... is that it's really a play-rage-quit-repeat kinda game. And definitely not for everyone. But I've also heard that it's a very nicely designed game, with some great concepts and that it's incredibly rewarding if you can stick with it. I'm really uncertain about that one.

Pretty much sums it up. Rage is the emotion I feel about it.

With the new baby, I haven't had a chance to play many "hardcore" video games these days. Instead I've been trying out iOS games that I can play with one hand while feeding or putting the baby to sleep.
Has anyone tried the board game Ascension? The one designed by Brian Kibler. I downloaded the iOS version and I have to say its awesome and addictive. Its a card game in the style of Dominion (which is also on iOS and its free) in that you start with a small deck of only 10 cards, and each turn you draw 5 cards and these cards give your resources to acquire more cards from the board, which make your deck better. When you run out of cards you reshuffle and can now start playing the new cards you got to start getting points to win the game. The game is well designed and the iOS implementation is really polished.
I highly recommend the iOS version if you're a busy person and only have little snippets of time here and there to play stuff... or if you like these kinds of games in general.

Yeah, honestly it's nothing special. There is some merit in playing it and going, "These are the guys that created the genre!" but that's about it.

I can appreciate that game, and it's successor, for what they are, but my God, Demon's Souls was torture. And creepy. That prison level with the squid dudes who carried bells? Eff that.

I like the squid guys, they remind me of Cthulus. I want to play The Binding of Issac, but don't have a computing machine of enough quality to run it. Bleh.

Currently finishing Fallout 3 (extra content), and failing to get all the Riddler trophys from Arkham City. Yeah, the Riddler trophies? Don't do that to yourself.

Just finished Dust: An Elysian Tail. Great game. A different take on the whole Metroidvania style. Very fun gameplay, nice story and strong voice acting. And Fidget.
Of course, Fidget. By herself, she makes the game worth playing.
My "Best New Video Game Character" of 2012. ;D

I'm playing Mark of the Ninja now. Released yesterday on XBLA.
