I've been playing with this for a week or so and it has some potential, but the current blue meta is way too fast for it.
New Ninja Rats
------------------
4 Ravenous Rats
4 Ninja of the Deep Hours
4 Chittering Rats
3 Man-o'-war
3 Trinket Mage
3 Mulldrifter
2 Augur of Skulls
2 Okiba-Gang Shinobi
2 Crypt Rats
4 Last Gasp
3 Momentary Blink
1 Leonin Bola
1 Viridian Longbow
1 Sylvok Lifestaff
4 Terramorphic Expanse
1 Ancient Den
1 Vault of Whispers
1 Seat of the Synod
1 Barren Moor
1 Lonely Sandbar
1 Plains
8 Swamp
5 Island
Sideboard
4 Echoing Truth
1 Leonin Bola
1 Sylvok Lifestaff
2 Crypt Rats
3 Hydroblast
2 Negate
2 Doom Blade
It's a variation on a deck that was played by ChronicHeaves in some PDC events a while ago, but I thought his decklist wasn't quite right, especially without the Man-o'-war in it. I really like the Momentary Blink mechanic and I'm surprised it doesn't see more play, especially with flashback. To bounce your creatures that have effects when they enter the battlefield is great fun, and you get to do it twice. It is insane to be able to attack with a Mulldrifter and then on their turn, after they've announced attackers, you Momentary Blink it which untaps your blocker for that Squadron Hawk and draws you two cards in the process. Same thing with Man-o'-war, returning creatures to your opponent's hand at instant speed, or just bouncing Chittering Rats for 3 and 4 turns in a row with the Momentary Blink and the Ninja.
Now for the obvious downsides... the deck takes some time to get going, which seems to be unacceptable in the current meta. Blue is everywhere and they're going to stunt you and stop you before you get going, and Infect is probably too fast for you to get on the board against. It works great against Post decks, does okay against Affinity, and I haven't had much trouble vs. Red decks, or White. I haven't faced a Storm deck with it, so I don't know about that.
If you decide to play it, give it several matches. It does not play itself like some decks do, there are a lot of choices to be made on most turns and timing is critical. The best use of the Momentary Blink takes practice, and be sure to use your Terramorphic Expanse and Trinket Mage to get that white mana so you have it when you need it, it's one of the big weaknesses of the deck.
Comments appreciated.
