I really like Steamcore Weird, and I really like R/U. I want to find a way to make it work without the posts or other typical things.

All of the creatures in the deck are relatively high casting cost, so you'll have to find a way to get some lower cost creatures in there if you want to remove the 'posts. The deck is good but my analysis of the list tells me you're basically trying to hold off your opponent until you can get to Turn 3/4 to get creatures on board. And even then, you're working from behind until you can get a proper board presence.
That's not to say this deck isn't good. There is a high enough density of control to keep you in the game until later turns when you can start to take over. The question is whether there's enough burn left over to finish your opponent off.

I watched the LSV videos a few months back, and found myself wondering how he was winning with them.
It seems like a really fun deck, but almost a master level one.

Okay, LSV's deck/net deck. Come on, let's get creative. This is the same as most UR decks that are on the 'Decks of the Week' on dailymtg.com. There are about 5 maybe 6 deck types on there, I'm kind of upset that people only follow the net decks instead of trying the new stuff. Trust me, there are other great decks out there if you can actually get creative.

From a "NEWB" prospective I take a gotta start somewhere approach, which is find a net deck read the cards try to figure out how it works, play with deck.
I hope to some day have a level of knowledge that allows me to brew decks off the cuff
Although it seems to me that most new decks that work well often come from net decks

Find a couple cards in a color you want to work with and try building around them. Try to use a color you haven't used a lot. Find some strange cards from freebots and have fun making a deck with them. Or, think of an existing deck archetype and tweak the hell out of it.

You took a perfectly good Cloudpost deck and removed the namesake card, stuck in a few Kiln Fiends that will be inactive most of the time since you want to counter stuff, and put in Cloud of Faeries which is terrible in non-combo decks with no ways to abuse them.
I think what you want to be doing is be more proactive. Take out the counters that work against the Kiln Fiends and put in burn and bounce. Rolling Thunder and Capsize are terrible with so few lands so those should go too.
You just need some hard to kill win conditions or a way to overload your opponents. Right now Kiln Fiend is a sitting duck and the counters you put in to protect him make him weaker. Shimmering Glasskite or Aven Fleetwing could work but are a bit expensive. Putting in early aggression such as Plated Geopede or Phantom Bears is another way to go.
Teachings without a single swamp? For shame. Oh yeah, Teachings is for decks with tons of land. Take those out too.
