Mike, Nate, and a very sick Chris delve into the Rebels deck, Battleship the Movie, Pauper cube picks, and the ever unshifting metagame. This episode is brought to you by NyQuil and antibiotics. This is Pauper to the People. www.mtgcast.com/?p=23354

That rebel deck sounded pretty interesting. Thanks for pointing it out! It does sound rather weak though. I'm gonna see if I can build it just to try it out (it sounds pretty cheap).
Here's a thought: there used to be a counter rebels deck back in the day. I wonder if that strategy would work, maybe with some of the counters that the Ux post decks use like prohibit and condescend.
It may come as no surprise that White Weenie is one of my favourite strategies and it was the first one I tried for pauper as it was the cheapest at the time. However, I've never felt that, even after sideboarding, it has a good matchup against cloudpost, storm or infect. Against cloudpost its just to slow to win before cloudpost can stabilize, and against storm and infect its just too inconsistent. It always loses game 1 and game's 2 and 3 you have to pray that you both draw your disruption AND they don't draw their defense against that disruption.
WW has a fine matchup against all the other decks and I've seen skilled players that can consistently 4-0 with it (just ask AndreyS) so that's why its still a tier 1 deck regardless of its weaknesses.

Don't take this as a personal attack but I may have to disagree with you Gabo.
It's been a while but I believe the reason the counter rebel deck worked as well as it did was because of Lin Sivi, with out her I just don't think the deck would have the steam behind it's like its predecessor.
As for white weenie, I won't consider myself a white weenie expert but I have put my fair time in with the deck. In my opinion white weenie isn't really designed to win game 1 which I think we can agree on. The purpose behind game one is usually a game of intel gathering to find out as much out about your opponents deck as possible then side board accordingly. Here is where I think white weenie shines, white probably has some of the best options for side board material in the format and as such gives it it's edge in games 2 and 3. I can honestly say I've never lost a game to Storm, infect, or post with white weenie.
I personal belive white weenie has the best chance against storm second only to Mono black rats thanks to the options of Suture Priest, which is usually main boarded anyways to prevent empty the warrens and Benevolent Unicorn, Prismatic Strands for the grapeshot kill.
As for the infect match up all white weenie really needs to do to win is just throw creatures infront of infect and fish out buff spells with the javelineers until they get their flag bearer of choice then clinch the game with either Kor Skyfisher or Razor golem
As for the post decks the main answer I've come to is crimsion acolyte for the izzet variation of the deck as giving your guys cover from the deck's torrent of burn spells often leaves post in an unfavorable board state where grinding you out just doesn't work so well.
Again this is just from my own personal experience with the deck is all.

Awesome stuff Midnight This is exactly why I look through these boards, to learn and become better at the game. I've always felt that I'm missing something when piloting WW and this kind of information really helps in improving.

Very true. Rishadan Port was also a key card for the deck. There's a reason why both got banned. The Counter Rebel deck appeared after the banning, as the deck was trying to find new options. As for WW, I think that Mike hit it on the head when he said that the deck had some of the best sideboarding options available in the format. There's very little that the deck cannot answer post-board, except perhaps countermagic... then again, that's an issue all decks have to deal with.

Peter and myself were discussing white weenie the day before and we both couldn't stop bringing up how good white sideboard cards are.
They just have answers for everything afterboard.
