In which Chris, Nate, and Mike analyze the White Weenie vs Goblins matchup, make additions to the Pauper Player’s Toolkit, and crack the requisite Cube pack. Also, car talk and new scratch track intro music by Chris’ band. This is Pauper to the People. www.mtgcast.com/?p=23680

I wanted to go back to the topic that started in the last episode, but what Chris brought up in this episode. So I guess I wasn't very clear with what I meant in the comments of last episode when I wrote this: @chris Going auto in aggro is not the great option in cube. Aggressive strategies are way more hard to make viable in cubes that midrange and control. People like to include flashy effects into their cubes and Jackal Pup or Loam Lion isn't flashy. Also you need so much more aggressive beaters in comparison to control finishers that some cubes fail to support aggro because of that. Control decks only need 2-4 finishers, but aggrodecks need 15 beaters. What I actually meant to write: @chris Since you haven't ever played a cube and you are going into your first cube draft, I wouldn't necessarily start with drafting an aggressive deck. Simply due to the fact that out of the thee decktypes (aggro, midrange, control) Aggro is the hardest decktype to support within the group, because you need to dedicate more slots for aggressive creatures. That is because aggrodeck values guantity > quality at some level - it just needs a certain mass of aggressive beaters to work, and if the cube isn't really pushed to support aggressive decks you are putting yourself into a very hard spot. That being said aggressive strategies work also well in the cube environment, but you can't know if they are truly supported in the cube you are playing - if it is a new format(cube) for you. But you can be certain that midrange and control strategies are supported, since they are naturaly more easy to support and draft.Does that make sense? I didn't mean that aggro sucks at cube environment. What I meant that going all in on aggro in a new cube is a risk at some level. I do love aggro and I prefer to play aggro in construced and also I quite often force it in my cube. Good episode. I really like the decktech segment. Two matchups that I would like to hear about are Affinity vs. MBC Rats and Infect vs. Delver U.
