What do you guys think about this card: I am still playing it as a two-of in my GW Beatdown deck to dig for Guardian of the Guildpact or Blastoderm when needed, but I might cut it to one or zero. It seems like I usually side it out anyway.. Still the card is very interesting and I am curious if someone has used it? If it put the creatures to the GY it would enable threshold nicely in pauper...

It is bad because of how often you won't get what you want. I could see it being used to search for a specific cheap creature in an Elf combo deck but in a beat down deck making a random creature cost one green more is not what you want to be doing.

Meh. I can see what you're trying to accomplish by playing it, but I have to agree with bobblyigg.
This is not the Green Sun's Zenith you're looking for.

It's a bad copy of Green sun IMO, I have to agree with Rockbass here.

There are several reason not to play it. But the critical questions are: What are you looking for? And does it justify the dilution of your threat density? In my opinion, it does not.

Hmm.... this is interesting. I've seen that card before as I've been browsing and thought it had promise. The jury's still out for me on a final decision, but in AGoT, there's a good chance that a card like this would see some play.
I wonder if the problem with Pauper is that the really lynchpin threat cards that you'd be digging for with this are a bit fewer and further between. Though, in a format with rares, Green Sun's Zenith would provide better search, so this still wouldn't see play.
I'm torn, but I really want to like it. I wonder if it stands a chance in some kind of combo deck like Midnight Guard where you want to track down the Guard ASAP? I could see it being a solid T1 play to dig if you don't have an elf that turn.

Will, I think the problem is that the Pauper format is too fast for it. By the time you use it, dig up your dude, and get everything running, you would be dead to Infect, Goblins, Storm, Suicide Black, Auras, and most other decks in the format.
I would love to see the format slow down by a turn or two, so these crazy cards and ideas could get some love.

While I would agree that it would be nice to see the format slow down a turn or two, I'm afraid that I'm about to fork the discussion in two directions: 1. What would be a good way to accomplish that? 2. So what in particular makes this comparatively unplayable in public opinion compared to something like Ponder/Preordain/etc? That actually seems to be the closest comparison.

1. Play Modern pauper is my guess?
2. I wouldn't rule out making it work entirely. I think the difference between this and something like Preordain is that with the latter you are searching for an answer or counter, usually a socery or instant. With Commune, you're trying to find a creature (that seems like it would inherently cost more than a counterspell), thus making it harder to use effectively in such a fast format.
I could be way off on this, so feel free to tell me if I am.
As a final thought, I think I want to do an alter of Commune With Nature, and have some gross looking hippie dude bathing in a water trap at a golf course.
