I'm not talking about monetary value per se, though it is something to consider. But last week, when came the moment to renew my insurance policy for the house, I decided to add a little something to the policy for my Magic collection. It seems insane to me, and ten years ago I would have laughed at those people who insure their miniature trains or their Baseball cards collection. But now... between my Cube and everything else, it just seemed like the sensible thing to do.

I am at the same point as you! I am currently re-negotiating all my insurances and I am on the verge of adding protection for my mtg collection. Depending on what it costs and how it works etc.
My entire collection (apart from cube and few pauperstaples) is up for sale at MCM, but the cube is pretty valuable since it is quite shiny (something like 80% foiled). And some of the non-foils like Library of Alexandria, ABU Duals and Mana Drain are also worth something...
Then again, even if my cube is worth some K, it is more about the commitment I have made for the cube. I have been building it for few years and if I were to lose it. I wouldn't do it again, even if I get 100% of the lost money back. It wouldn't feel the same. This is my cube!
But yeah, I quess my collection isn't even very valuable and if I lost every card (besides the cube) I wouldn't care too much.
