Alright, fine. So we spend a couple of minutes talking about the Avengers movie. It couldn’t be helped. But we also cover some Stompy variants, a Blue/Green Storm-ish deck, Mono Black Rats vs. Goblins Storm, Silver/Black Modern, and answer a few listener e-mails. There are a few brief seconds of buzz at approximately the 9 minute mark. We were aware of it, and fixed the problem quickly. Do not adjust your headset. Link: www.mtgcast.com/?p=24850

Good episode, had a few things to add about the Storm vs Mono Black matchup. I would favor Mono Black, when I was doing a matchup record keeping over 60 Daily Events Mono Black was my worst matchup. It is even worse with that deck, because my sideboard is terrible. A couple of weeks ago was a huge influx of infect decks and I was pissed off about getting turn 2'd a few times and added all the additional Infect hate. Normally I would have one more Deep Analysis and a Spark Spray (to hit my own guy and stop Echoing Decay or even to kill a Crypt Rats on Occassion) to board in vs Mono Black. I thought the general strategy described was pretty good about holding an artifact to help against Wrech Mind but had one thing to add to it. If you can hold a Lotus Petal instead of a Chromatic, it is much better. I like to Play out my Chromatics as they basically let me save a card so that I won't discard it. If I have 2 Chromatics on the field and one Deep Analysis in the GY, that is draw 4 even if I don't have any cards in hand. This lets Storm make something out of nothing on occassion and steal a late game. I would also never board out an Empty the Warrens, for a couple of reasons. One is that they make a big Distress/Duress target. I've seen Mono black players take the Empty the Warrens over the card I actually need so many time. The other reason is that being able to luck into an early win makes the matchup a whole lot easier. If you can storm turn 2 or 3 that is great, and they won't have the answer quite yet, but taking out Empty the Warrens really cuts down on these chances.
As for being on the show, I would like to at some point. Right now I would be pretty bad guest though. I am kind of out in the Jungle in Thailand and the internet drops and gets shakey a lot. The skyping would be pretty awful, so I wouldn't want to make a hard to listen to part of the show while I am here. I fly to Seattle next week though. Maybe could makes plans then, or when I get to my home later on. It would have to be this month though as next month I will be very busy with work and basically gone from Magic for a little while. You can hit me up in game and see if can arrange something if you want.

Another solid episode. I still really, really dig the deck match up segment. The tricky part is remembering everything I want to respond to by the time I get to a computer since I'm usually listening in the car. Mainly, who doesn't want to participate in Avengers discussion? That very, very last scene after all of the credits is absolutely perfect. Best scene in the whole thing. I won't spoil it publicly here just in case some folks didn't realize that there are two after credit scenes. Also, Mike, have you considered switching to Firefox? It seems like you keep having trouble with Chrome. FF seems to have fixed the one issue that I had with it for ages (a memory "feature"- ie, leak) and I've had something on the order of 30 tabs open for a few weeks now with nary an issue. Haven't run across any sites that I can recall acting funky either.

Since i watched The Avengers yesterday, thought i'd put my input over here (it's been a while since i've heard the episode, all i can say is thanks for the deck vs deck rundown).
It was fun to watch it, i can't deny it, but i can't really say it's good. It's freaking awesome, but i have lots of issues with it. I mean, can it be more predictable?
Thanks for the episode!

kennon: Oh believe me, I use firefox a hell of a lot more now, I'm not happy about it though:D. ANZ: What did you expect? It's based off of comic books that have been out for years, lol.

Well, i got what i expected. There are, however, some comic-based movies i thought were pretty good. The Dark Knight, for instance, and Sin City.
Well, we both know what each other means, i'm just a bit bothered by all the claims it's "perfect".

I think the claims that it's perfect are probably from people who are relieved that it wasn't totally screwed up by the writers/director, i.e. X-Men.

Screwed as in not even the action scenes being watchable? I mean, besides the action scenes, i can't actually take much from The Avengers.
(i'm a bit afraid of hijacking this thread into an Avengers discussion)

If you tap Niv Mizzet you can read his name down the card (kihda in leet) thats what the 90 deg. signs are for.
