Just wanted to spill my two cents on a few subjects:
I too would like to see a Pauper tournament, like at Gen Con, a Pauper Championship. But with great things would come a price. I would bet money SCG or other sites would then jack up prices for pauper cards just like how SCG did for Legacy staples back in 2011.
ie. I paid 35 bucks for a foil White Weenie deck that was like 85% complete (Thanks ABU Games!). If there was a greater increase in the 'need' for the format, I can easily see where I could have paid $100+
Also, on discussion about the decrease in Pauper queues: I can see the format with less number of decks. Hear me out for a second: if you have 30 chances to 'cash', you can take it less seriously and durdle around with a variety of decks; if you have now 18, its crunch time, have less time to 'cash', so you want to win.
Overall, keep up the good work.

You make a great point 2sided3angle, if Wizards put more support into pauper it would, by law of demand, become more expensive. There's probably a good equilibrium right now.
I feel the need to add some information on the talk about cheap decks since its something I've been looking into recently.
First of all, just an FYI, cloudpost costs .15tix or less, depending on the dealer and you should be able to easily find versions of counterspell for under .25tix. However, there are many other cards in those decks, that cost a lot more: prohibit, exclude and of course, serrated arrows are quite expensive and are necessary to make those control decks (izzet post and MUC). Also, trying out the tempo blue versions (delver + faeries + ninjas) doesn't work either because of cloud of faeries, which is quite expensive.
Its certainly possible to make cheaper versions of those decks but they just won't be as efficient.
Second, I think drafting to get cards for pauper is a terrible idea at least in terms of money. Just for the cost of a single draft (about 12 tix) you can buy a set of all the useful commons in standard and more. Unless you are really good at drafting or really lucky at opening chase rares (which is actually very unlikely), drafting is a bad way to gather commons just for the sake of it. If you draft because you enjoy drafting and have money to spend on it, then its a great way to have fun and I highly recommend it, but I wouldn't see it as a way to pick up commons if money is your limitation.
Third, while pennybot is a great choice and has a large selection and shares credits (I believe) with one of the best bots in MTGO, I would also encourage anyone with a limited fund to look at the "half penny" bots. There are quite a few that sell cards for just .005 or .006tix and since that's basically giving you twice the number of cards, its considerable. In my experience, the ones with the largest availability of cards are QuarterOfSixBulkBot and VW_Bulk_buyer. Having said that, and this is very important, its sometimes better to put your tix into one bot chain that you know has all the cards you need because otherwise you end up with wasted credit on bots that only have a few cards to give you. If you find that MTGOTraders and Pennybot have all the cards you need, it might very well be the safer choice.
Fourth, the cheapest tier 1 decks, not including sideboard are Affinity, White Weenie and Mono Black Control (without cryptic rats or Spinning Darkness). Those three decks have competitive versions of their main deck that have exclusively bulk commons. Affinity used to be expensive because it used lotus petal but not any more, also the artifact lands recently went down in price due to the block being drafted a few weeks ago. Stompy would be dirt cheap if it wasn't for Rancor, which is actually quite expensive right now.
The issues with both White Weenie and Affinity is that they both depend heavily on their sideboard options against certain matchups and these options aren't cheap (standard bearer, hydroblast, pyroblast, etc.). Landfall boros has the same issues as white weenie, its very cheap in its main deck, but the required sideboard to be competitive is expensive. MBC, however, can have a very competitive sideboard without a single expensive card. Therefore, that would be my suggestion.
Finally, if building a deck without spending is what you want I would recommend selling that M12 booster RIGHT NOW, because its only going to lose value. You should be able to get just 2tix and some credit. That gives you 4 tix if you include the 2 event tickets you get starting out. Once you have decided on a decklist, you can use MTGOLibrary's price wiki to find what bots have the cards you need at the cheapest price on average and use those tickets among those bots. For Pauper cards I recommend JBStore and Bluedragon as they often have very competitive prices for the slightly less cheap cards.
Once again I'll note the thing about finding a single chain that has all the cards. If looking through MTGOLibrary's library of bots seems like a chore, just go straight to MTGOTraders and Pennybot.

And like the hosts said, many people here will give away useful cards for free!
Also the league two starts in few hours and building a competitive standard deck is dirt cheap, and since the league is free you get to play "competitive" magic at a very low entry cost! So join in!

Guys, two tunes you really need to stop whistling: the 'wiz catering to EDH players' and the 'wiz dumbing down the game'. We hear that every week. You sound like broken records. We get it. Really.
Otherwise, good show.

Yeah, I'm actually with Grumpy on this one. If you take the time to back up those arguments, I'd be interested in hearing some thoughtful analysis of how you think it's being dumbed down or catered to EDH as well as why you consider those to be bad things. As is, I've never heard an explanation.

It's funny to hear the contrast with other podcasts where the hosts are all really excited about the new cards being designed and happy about how Wizards is catering to multiple formats.

I have no complaints about how Wizards runs the show.

I just want to say thank you for featuring my Cube on the show this week. A tad quirky, but nonetheless I've learned to love cube, design, and the joy of building it (actually, it's a she) has been super fun, and informative. Being a new player of only 9 months has really "caught me up" so to speak, on the game of Magic, and the history and interactions of the cards.
If you have any suggestions or want to see more, I've got a thread in the cube section of this forum with a link to the actual list.
