Nate and Mike attended their Pre-Release events. Chris played Rage. Also, some Twitter prompted Core Set discussion, talk about luck vs. skill, Pauper cube additions and subtractions, pricing, and some interesting deck developments in the metagame arena. Finally, some very sultry Heroes of the Web discussion, and a convoluted rules question. Gird your loins. This is Pauper to the People. Nice episode, I love the forum heroes segment and the content is solid as always. Also If you actually read the post I totally said Mikecraps, just like he actually talked about. LEARN TO READ CHRIS!

Reading takes time and effort I don't have. And whenever I have incorrect information from my own ignorance, I find it better to just ridicule those who correct me. That way, I can die bitter and alone.

Rage? The ID/Bethesda game? I tried, but after the Fallout games it was to much sizzle not enough steak. Downloading now. Listening in a little.

The luck vs skill issue has always been part of Wizards strategy for hooking new players and the keeping the ones they have. You are new, and learning. You grind out games with friends. You play against the best player at the shop, and 99% of the time he beats you. He has better cards, more skill, and just understands the the game more. But that 1% you win, with your pile, and your growing skill is luck. Those wins make you want to win more, to get better at deck building, learning card advantage of game theory. Its all a circle. Some day you will be the best player at the store, and some lucky little kid is going to beat you. And Wizards loves it.
