Pauper to the People #67 – The Dead Period Between Core Sets The darkness is all encompassing. We will all one day shed our mortal coils. There is no hope. Also, Pauper, including White Weenie’s resurgence in the metagame, a Presence of Gond deck, and a guest Deck v Deck. Download it now! Or, don’t. It’s all pointless anyways. This is Pauper to the People. Whatever. www.mtgcast.com/?p=25362

Another interesting cast and I have a few things to say.
First of all, if you guys think the new client is lacking, I definitely agree with you. While the developers have definitely been improving it and have taken a some of the feedback into account, its most certainly not ready for the public and I'm hoping that they get lots and lots of feeback that reflects the suggestions us beta testers have already made. Its encouraging that the forums show that people are actually noticing many of the annoyances like the shifting creatures when you want to attack or the fact that the status panel is even further away from the action now.
From the beta forums, I can confirm that what Chris said about why we need to have that delay between paper and MTGO releases is true. The moment the full card list is up on the mothership, the cards are released for the closed beta testing and that allows players to find all sorts of bugs that the internal developers would have a hard time finding. They obviously can't spoil them before the mothership because public testers are just not that respectful. As things are, we will probably have a couple of weeks from the moment the cards are spoiled to when they fully come out on MTGO to test them.
Now to some differences. I disagree with the analysis Nathan did on the Midnight Gond deck. For starters, I think that stompy would actually have quite a hard time beating this deck because of the fact that it depends on pump and rancor and the deck has all these lightning rods which would love to be pumped instead. Second, and I think Mikey was trying to say this, Grapeshot copies don't have to target the Bearers, only the original copy. So each bearer on the field basically is equivalent to, gain 1 life against grapeshot... not ideal, so in that sense, its just as susceptible to storm as any other aggro deck.
Another thing is that you keep wanting to count the the decks in a daily report as "the decks any given deck had to go through". Mikey also mentioned in this episode that this is not necessarily true but in fact, its quite far from the truth. Obviously any 4-0 decks did not play against each other and could have only played against 1 of the 3-1 decks. And the 3-1 decks could have, at the most, played against 2 of the other decks in the list, in most cases, against a single one. Therefore when you see a deck in a daily report, it will most probably have played against only 1 of the other decks there, maybe 2. So when you see a rogue deck, it may very well have lost to the one deck it played in the daily report and just have won agains a bunch of bad decks nobody knows of. So unfortunately, a daily report is not a very good source to know what a deck went through or how good it might be... you'd need to actually look at the event itself.
@gabo: Don't spell my name wrong again. Thank you. - Mikey K
@mikey K: I sincerely apologize, it won't happen again. Thank you. - Gabo

Funny? Disturbing comes to mind, lol. Seems like a dark comedy funny. You know like Cable Guy or Hellraiser.

I wanted it to be a melodramatic way of expressing how much it sucks to play for Core set packs in the weeks before a new one drops. I feel like I nailed it.
