I'm organizing a Budget sealed league and I would like to invite everyone who loves sealed to participate.
Budget Sealed League 1.01
This is a sealed deck league with a twist. Instead of everyone buying boosters and opening them, the content of the boosters is assigned to everyone and each participant must obtain the cards individually. Thanks to the way MTGO's economy works this is much cheaper than purchasing boosters. To keep prices down for everyone, cards over 1tx are banned (boosters will NOT contain any banned cards). Typically, you can buy commons at .006, uncommons at .025 and rares at an average of .2 tix. That means a booster costs around .4 tix so expect the total cost for the 8 boosters for this event to be less than 4tix minus any cards you already own and any cards you don't need to use.
Other than obtaining your cards, entry is, of course, free so its like we're paying you to play!

Event Structure
- Round 1 will be one week long (Wednesday 1st August - Tuesday 7th August).
- Round 2 will be one week long (Wednesday 8th August - Tuesday 14th August).
- Round 3 will be one week long (Wednesday 15th August - Tuesday 21st August).
Finals
- If we stay below 8 people, there will be a single final match between the top 2 participants after the last round. If we get 8 or more we can have a top 4.
Rules
Tables must be made using the "Anything Goes" format, "best 2 out of 3", Watchable, and labeled "Budget Sealed League".
Participants may change their deck between matches, as long as all the cards are from their assigned boosters.
You can only play each other participant only once per round, at least for scoring purposes.
Since this is a small sized league, participants are encouraged to play every other participating player each round.
Everyone is free to scout each other's card pool. If you believe a player's deck does not match their card pool, please contact me.
Bad sportsmanship or other rules violations may result in match loss, disqualification, suspension, or banning. Offense and punishment will be decided at the host's discretion.
Communicating
This league is open to Pauper to the People forum and PauperKrew members. You can use the list of registered participants above to privately message them or you can also go to the MTGO chatroom BSL ("/join BSL") to find other registered participants looking for a game.
After each match, results must be reported in your registration post this thread in the form of "vs PlayerX W 2-1" or " vs PlayerX L 0-2". Please use your registration post and modify it to add new matches. Use an empty line and the title "Round X" to separate matches from different rounds.
Standings and results will be updated in this thread and in the Pauper to the People forum.

Scoring
We will be using a system that encourages playing more. Just playing a match gets you a point. Winning the match gets you an extra point:
Winning a match: 2 points
Losing a match: 1 point
This potentially means that a very active but low skilled (or unlucky) participant could potentially get more points than a participant that won a large percentage of matches but played very few. In other words, don't give up if you have an unlucky streak.
Deck Construction and Booster Assignments
- For round 1 you will be assigned 2 ISD boosters and 2 DKA boosters. The minimum deck size will be 30 cards
- For round 2 you will be assigned an additional ISD and DKA boosters to add to your card pool. The minimum deck size will now be 40 cards
- For round 3 you will be assigned another additional ISD and DKA boosters to add to your card pool. The minimum deck size will still be 40 cards.
Decks may only contain cards from the boosters assigned to you plus basic lands. The minimum deck size stated includes basic lands.
I will be placing links to the boosters assigned to each participant one day before the league begins. Use only the first booster shown in each link. The boosters are shown through the website Raredraft.com and require a google account to access. If you have trouble accessing your boosters, please contact me and I can send you a listing of the content.
Example link:
www.raredraft.com/watch?d=3ch6y
The easiest way to get the booster listing onto your MTGO account is to create a text file with the list of the cards in the booster, then load it as a text file deck. Note that you have to put a number in front to indicate how many copies. An example listing will look like this:
1 Gravepurge
1 Torch Fiend
1 Fling
1 Lingering Souls
I recommend adding all the cards to the list, then using MTGO's deck editing tools to create a deck and sideboard from it and save that as a new deck file or files. Remember that you can create multiple decks from the same pool and you can completely transform your deck during sideboarding as long as you have all the cards for all the "versions" of your deck in one single deck file.
You do not need to obtain all the cards you are assigned. Create a deck and sideboard with all the cards you believe will be relevant and make sure you own them in your account. If you are missing some cards you need in your deck, try trading with other clan members or using a bot. As far as bots are concerned my suggestion for commons and uncommons is VW_Bulk_Buyer. It sells commons for .006 and uncommons for .025. Its not the cheapest that exists (some sell commons for .005), but it has a very good selection and you will often be able to find all the cards you need. If you cannot obtain some of the cards, contact me and I will help you.
