Alrighty folks. Another instance of us submitting a show on Tuesday, and it not showing up. Now it's Friday.
I'm going to be setting up a hosting service for the show that is independent of MTGCast. I'm still planning on submitting the show to them each week, but I want a more reliable place for the listeners to get their content on a timely basis.
So far, I'm leaning towards libsyn.

Please take the following as my personal opinion and not as a personal attack or otherwise. Take it with a grain of salt.
This to me seems like a stupid idea based on some frustration because someone else was busy.. The MTGCast network is the system the 90+% use to get any listeners at all. They offer free hosting and a huge listener base just looking for anything to listen to. While hosting the podcast on your own means the it will be up more reliably, I imagine that the traffic you get through it will be only your biggest fans (me included) who just can't wait any longer. It is up to you but I really encourage you not to bother with hosting your self.
Your highly opinionated fan, Jackson

No offense taken.
I guess my concern stems from the nature of a podcast, especially a weekly one. It's meant to be consumed on a weekly basis, and as such we try to keep it topical to things that have happened during the week
I have nothing but respect and understanding for the work Chewie and Otwell do, and know full well how things can begin to pile up. But I worry that the things we've talked about are already "old news", and now the show is running the risk of lapping itself with episodes.
Isn't part of retaining listeners in putting out a consistent product? The hosts are upholding our end of that bargain by recording on Mondays every week for 74 episodes now. The show gets submitted either the same night, or Tuesday night, depending on how much editing needs to take place.
Not to mention, how am I to encourage discussion and listener feedback when they cannot hear me request it? There were things discussed on 74 that were supposed to influence pieces of episode 75.
I'm not arguing with you by the way. I'm just trying to elaborate on the discussion.

The latest show I see on Itunes is 72 but that is probably a problem on my end.

I for one, being an "avid" listener, would go to your personal hosting site to download to get the podcasts in a timely manner. I understand if a new listener wanted to try they'd probably go through the Cast, and so if they lag, then no biggie. You have to keep your current fans happy though right?

Yeah, that's the major idea.
I have no intention to stop posting them up on mtgcast. But to have a set day/time the regulars could have to get the newest episode seems like the next logical step in the process.

How big the files are? I have some space available but I would have to check from my service provider how much traffic my "cloud" can handle. This could only be a temporarily solution before you find the right site...
