Good stuff guys! Definitely interested about the defender deck, it will be something that many people are brewing after RTR is launched in mtgo.

Yeah. Waaaaaaaay more Defender going on in RtR than I was expecting.
Also, everyone feel free to agree/disagree with the Tier discussion. The more input, the better.

For ease of classification y usually put tier 1 and 1.5 in the same tier (1) and everything else that has ever made it to the money of a daily in tier 2.
However, based on your tie ring system and from reading Justsins articles (recommended!) and from my matchup table I'd say the metagame looks like this:
Tier 1 Aggro delver Warrens storm (UR or grixis) Izzet post Stompy
Tier 1.5 WW MBC Affinity Goblins Fam storm Infect MUC RB tortured existence Slivers
Type 2 Tokens Cloak Burn Dead dog Soldiers UR burn Blighting UB control Rebels Etc...

I can agree with what Gabo typed. Though WW might be good enough for tier1 at this time also - that deck is just so consistent.. And Nate was talking how certain decks need a good pilot. That was a good point, but you missed the fact that control decks are typically the decks that require the most from its pilot. Being able to hedge the control deck against the meta the pilot must be very aware on other strategies and systems to know how to control the game. Good and fun episode

Infect and WW are the ones that I have a hard time deciding on where to put them between 1 and 1.5. Slivers and maybe RB tortured (now that it has lost popularity), based on results should probably be tier 2 but I leaked them enough to keep em 1.5.

Infect is kind of a toss up between 1 and 1.5, but I have to think that WW is Tier 1. It can answer almost anything else in the format, has plenty of give in regards to builds, and consistently 4-0's dailies.
I also agree Gabo, that "Tier 1" and "Tier 1.5" are pretty nebulous when it comes down to it. And I think that Classic Pauper being eternal only makes the issue less clear. When stuff rotates in and out of standard, it can make huge swings in what decks fit in which Tier.

The reason I put WW at tier 1.5 is because it has a bad matchup against izzet post, a weak matchup against delver and a very inconsistent matchup against storm, generally unfavorable even with all the sideboard hate. Even against Stompy it's only just about even. It's one of the best tier 1.5 decks but it would be the worst of the tier 1. I would say that its popularity due to being an apparently simple and fun deck make it place more often, and it's my favorite deck.
