So yeah... I'm tinkering with a third Cube. I've been doing a lot of 2-man Winston and/or Winchester drafts lately and though my Theme and my Modern cubes work well enough, they are not exactly designed for that kind of drafting. So I've been thinking about putting together a small, tight list just for that purpose. And since I don't want to simply create a smaller version of my Modern cube, I decided to go with Modern Pauper instead. Thing is, while I know a thing or two about cube building, Pauper cubes have been off my radar for a long time, and I'm not sure about what I should put in. Since there's a few experimented Pauper cube builders around, I figured I could ask for some feedback. Grump's Modern+ Winston Cube on MtGSalvation

I would check out these lists. The Pauper Cube community has built up a "power rankings" of there top 20 cards. I know some are not Modern legal, but this would be a good way to get the "best of the best" out of each since your sections are going to be so small. Its currently in the "voting stage" but it's still a good place to start for rough ideas. Pauper Cube 2012 Power Rankings

Grumpy has been active on those forums earlier and is likely aware of those votings already. Great resources definitely! Actually me and Grumpy were both active there earlier. I have stopped posting there but how about you Grumpy?

Actually me and Grumpy were both active there earlier. I have stopped posting there but how about you Grumpy? I post occasionally, but not that often. I don't have a lot of time for it lately. And I'm a little afraid to run into fan fiction writing Jace fanboys. But yes, I was aware of the forum thread. A solid resource. Thank you nevertheless for pointing it out. The one thing I found with Cube building is that the smaller the list, the riskier it is to default to the best of what a color has to offer. With 400+ cards, you can add the stronger options and still have room to tinker with archetypes and synergies. Below 300 cards however, I feel that you need to focus on deck building first - which mean that some staples may actually not have a place in the end, depending on what you want the players to be able to build. I was actually able to put an entire list together yesterday. I'll update my previous post. Let me know what you think of this. Edit: Okay, I decided to modify the list slightly. Green didn't seem right. Running so few cards in each sections, most decks will have to run two colors. So I kinda need the Karoos and Signets. Doing so however, means that Green ramp is pointless. Who wants to cast Cultivate when the opponent is ramping just as well with his bouncelands and artifacts? As such, Cultivate and Kodama's Reach got cut and a few things got in instead. Hull Breach was also added to the RG section to give the Cube a tad more artifact/enchantment hate.
