Thoughts on June 2013 release of this new product?
Any pauper staples we may want to see?

I don't think it will make any kind of difference financially, since most modern pauper cards are already at bulk price.

To be honest, as a Modern player I’m ecstatic about the product and I hope that it will help promote the format. And as a Cube builder, I hope to see some sweet white-bordered cards being reprinted in black borders, so that I can put them in my Modern Cube. As a Pauper player however, I’m a little worried. Though there are plenty of solid Common cards to be reprinted in Modern, the idea behind this is also to reprint some format staples. And since the set will contain the same number of Mythic/Rare/Uncommon/Common as a normal set, we can expect to see some rarer cards – mostly Uncommon, I would say – reprinted as Common. Now what does it mean for Pauper if all of a sudden we have access to things like Path to Exile or Remand? Sounds awesome in theory, but it could seriously impact the balance of the format. PtE would be insane in White Weenie, and Post decks with Remand!? Jeez… And if we see such cards suddenly enter Pauper, what kind of impact will it have on the format’s accessibility? One of the big draw of Pauper is that the format is inexpensive, but these cards may not necessarily be. Let's say that Modern Masters is only mildly successful. Offer is greater than demand, and the extra copies entering the market bring the price of those old cards down. Pauper players can get them on the cheap, and Pauper remain as accessible as it always was. On the other hand, let's say that Modern Masters is a resounding success. New players are attracted to the Modern format, and demand for these Modern staples is higher than the offer. Pauper players trying to get their hands on the new cards - because you can be sure that if something like PtE is printer at Common, it will become a Pauper staple - may end up having to pay a hefty price for these cards, thus raising the barrier of entry in the format.

The effects for pauper cannot be projected before we see how they are going to reprint commons. This set will be drafted so I don't think we will see too many "broken" cards at common rarity if even any. But we will see. I have slowly acquired quite many modern staples at mtgo and hopefully this will help me get some more modern cards to my collection in mtgo.

The effects for pauper cannot be projected before we see how they are going to reprint commons. True, and at this point speculation can only feed the trolls. But this set is a stand alone draft set. None of these cards will enter Standard, and all of them are already in Modern. They could print Planeswalkers at Common and there would be no impact on the format - only on card prices. So while they usually try to be careful about what they print at Common rarity, they might be a little more flexible this time around and tinker with the Commons on the basis of "How are these Commons going to impact the drafting in Modern Masters" without having to worry about Standard. And if they don't have to worry about Standard, I'm pretty sure that they're not going to worry about Pauper.

And if they don't have to worry about Standard, I'm pretty sure that they're not going to worry about Pauper. Yeah. But luckily we have seen that Wizards can and will ban cards if necessary

so if a former uncommon becomes common in MM your saying it will be legal in pauper unless banned by wizards?

By the definition of pauper it should be so. If it is common in any mtgo realeased set it is legal in classic pauper.

I think you should rest easy GrumpyOldGamer. I seriously doubt they will change the rarity of more than a handful of cards and I doubt these would affect classic pauper. I also imagine they will include many cards that will make players go "whaaa??", wondering why they would include them if they're not really played that much in modern.
I also wouldn't be surprised if we see at common, many cards played in modern pauper decks that aren't in full modern, as long as it fits the limited environment they will be trying to create.
