Chris makes puns like a mad man, Grant is on his third glass of wine, Matti enjoys football and spreadsheets, and Mike interrupts everyone. After streaming with that 4-0 MUC list I'm actually very impressed with it.

After streaming with that 4-0 MUC list I'm actually very impressed with it. What were we missing looking at it on paper? Is it just a really smooth, well positioned deck right now?

You guys were talking about Jedi mind tricks on episode 91. Here's one I will try if the opportunity arises again. I was playing white weenie against MBC. My opponent was at 4 life. He activated crypt rats for x=2 to wipe my board. I played a prismatic strands in response, naming black of course. Before the prismatic strands even resolved, he reflexively put a second activation of crypt rat's ability on the stack for x=2 again. I was sitting there thinking "Would he have even noticed if I had chosen blue instead of black?". Making him die to his own crypt rats would have been hilarious.

I think you guys are underestimating just how big of an impact RTR had on Pauper.
-The Gates -Electrickery is probably in the top 5 most played nonland cards in Pauper. -Ethereal Armor has turned GW Auras into a real tiered deck. -Axebane Guardian has made a new Rogue deck in Wall Combo. -Frostburn Weird, Grisly Salvage (including MakingSmartPlays moneying an event based around it), Goblin Electromancer have all made a splash in one way or another.
I think that is a good amount of an impact for one set on an eternal format.

I think that is a good amount of an impact for one set on an eternal format. Good points. I think the problem arises in the way daily events are shown now, i.e. not as much. With Innistrad through to RTR, you could almost see daily changes in the metagame, because so many events were posted. Now that it's not the case, I feel we're forced to be more speculative based off of the data we do get, as well as pure speculation. Couple that with the fact that I can't watch replays of other people's matches when I'm in a daily (so I can't see cards I may have missed). Are we possibly undervaluing what RTR has done, and is doing, to the metagame? Possibly, and probably. But we've also had a year of Innistrad where we see permanent changes to decks that have stuck around: Green Stompy, with Young Wolf and Hunger of the Howlpack Rancor's reprinting Loyal Cathar in White Weenie An entirely new White Weenie deck based around War Falcon Delver of Secrets Travel Preparations Phantasmal Bear etc. etc. I personally feel at this point that Innistrad has had a bigger effect on the metagame, but I hope to be proven wrong as the Ravnica block develops. And I will certainly not be disappointed to be proven wrong when the RTR block blows Innistrad away with Classic playable cards. I'll also make sure to bring this post up on the next episode. It's good conversation material. It would be an even better conversation if we could get you on the show to have it with us! ;D

Some good points on the impact of RtR. I think comparing the blocks for impact obviously isn't completely fair yet since we only have one set, but I do think one thing should be added. It seems that RtR has added some roleplayers like Gates and Electrickery to many decks, but it hasn't really redefined any decks the way Innistrad did. RtR certainly has lots of cards that are playing very good roles or making the occasional splash, Innistrad helped reshape the way many decks in Pauper operate entirely.
As for that midrange blue list, it looks kind of ugly on paper but after playing some games with it I was impressed with its versatility and ability to almost never run out of cards. There were very few times playing with it initially that I felt completely helpless or overmatched like you can with a bad MUC draw or when you stumble on tempo and get behind with the Fae deck.
