I don't check twitter often, so I'm not up on all the hate, but @cardboardwitch (Nina Illingworth) just started tweeting about how fun Standard Pauper is. Always interested when more prolific members of the community give our semi-niche format some exposure.

The segment on Twitter and the MtG community really hit home for me. Back in september, I basically stopped playing Magic. I couldn't handle it anymore. I got fed up with the trolls and the Booshes and the Landsdells, and with everybody who think that the world needs to hear about their half-assed self-centered opinion.
So I stopped looking at Twitter, stopped listening to podcasts and stopped playing. Completely. What had been a hobby and a passion had turned into something I hated doing and thinking about - and that was due in large part to the cesspool that is (often) the Magic community. It was no longer fun, no longer enjoyable. And with work and real life being somewhat demanding, I just didn't need the aggravation or the negativity.
I haven't played a single game of Magic in months. I only started thinking about Cube again because of the Gatecrash spoilers. This is the first podcast I listen to in weeks. Part of me wants to get back into it, but I'm also worried about making the jump again.
The point to this is that there is a lot of people out there who have forgotten what this game is and isn't. And while I could do the old man routine and complain about kids and how immature they are, I can't. Because many of the more vocal players are adults. Fucking douches who have no clues about anything, but adults nonetheless. And that's sad. And that's problematic. And that needs to change.

I don't do twitter. Tried once and quit fairly quickly. Tweeting is like trying to teach a pig to sing, nothing good comes out of it, wastes your time and the pig still only grunts.

My sentiments exactly, and I know where you're coming from with this. It almost makes me wonder if this is part of the reason Wizards has their employees so vocal on Twitter. It's a way to cut through the constant, oppressive negativity that just seeps in from everywhere.
