It’s Gatecrash set review time! Which cards will affect the Classic Pauper metagame? Which cards will affect the Standard Pauper metagame? Which cards are the hosts totally wrong about? And who thought combining a frog with a crocodile was a good idea? This is Pauper to the People. In light of new bannings, everything we've said in the set review is wrong.

Had an interesting conversation on Twitter with a listener, regarding the set review:
Since so few cards we get with these new sets make a difference in the classic metagame, maybe our focus needs to be on reviewing them from a standard viewpoint, and going into greater classic detail if one seems to have classic merit. That would actually fuel discussion, instead of a bunch of "nope. Nope. Nope." type things we have now.
Any thoughts?

Rarely do you see set reviews based on Legacy/Vintage formats and I feel the same should be true for pauper. Albiet pauper has a smaller card pool so it is more likely that a new set could have an impact it is only a few cards that do so. Most set reviews are based on standard and pauper reviews should follow suit. It would lead to more liveely discussion and we can get an insight as to what cards/decks we could see or what cards we should pick up, although frankly I grab a play-set of commons soon after they're released.
