I talked about using Horror of the Dim in my U/B Teachings list in the GTC spoilers thread, so I thought I would post the updated list here for input/comments.
Card Draw/Selection: 11

Counter suite: 12

4 Counterspell
2 Faerie Trickery
2 Soul Manipulation
Removal Spells: 6
2 Ghastly Demise
1 Agony Warp
2 Diabolic Edict
1 Capsize
Creatures: 6
4 Sea Gate Oracle
2 Horror of the Dim
Land: 25
13 Island
6 Swamp
3 Dimir Gate
3 Terramorphic Expanse
Sideboard:
4 Duress - against combo
4 Hydroblast - duh
4 Dispel - against other control decks
3 Wail of the Nim - against swarm decks with too many x/1s; the regen target creature is a nice bonus as well
This deck plays the draw-go, defensive gameplan pretty much from start to finish.
Some details on my card choices:
- I switched to Oracles over Mulldrifters because having a body to block on t3 seems more important than drawing an additional card
- I'm switching to Horror from Ulamog's Crusher because 1) Horror can defend itself, and 2) the fact that Crusher can't block has hurt me in the past.
- I considered Exclude over Soul Manipulation, but the fact that Soul Manipulation can return a discarded win condition to my hand seemed better, since I run so few creatures in the deck and discard is prevalent in Pauper.
A few things I'm considering:
- Should I run Opt over Preordain to let me keep my mana up for counters or activating hexproof on Horror more consistently?
- Is Duress necessary in the SB anymore now that Storm is axed? Should I leave it in to help me fight other control decks? If not, what should replace it?
So there it is, let me hear your thoughts/concerns/criticisms. I have the cards for this deck but haven't had a chance to actually play it against anyone yet.
