So let me first start of by saying that i've only been playing magic since the beginning of Innistrad and only Pauper since Avacyn restored. So with such a small amount of brewing and playing experience under my belt I am constantly finding neat cards that part of me wonders, "Hey, is this card playable? How could I make this card work?" To help me and others answer those questions, I decided to start a series of threads entitled Playable Pauper. We have some great players and brewers visiting this forum regularly and I hope that perhaps their experience and ideas might educate me and any one else that is interested.
So to start off I present to you, Ideas Unbound!
UU Sorcery-Arcane Draw three cards, Discard three cards at end of turn. The apprentice stared in puzzlement. "But Master, you finished writing those spells just yesterday. Don't you remember?" The jushi's heart froze.
So I came across this card while I was trying to find blue discard outlets for a Madness-centric deck. While this card doesn't really fill that particular need it does seem like a pretty amazing card. Drawing 3 cards at 2CMC seems pretty good and the downside seems like it can be built around. Perhaps use it in a burn type deck deck for card advantage? I feel that this card has potential but how would it best be utilized? What do you guys think?
Also this card gets high marks for some of the coolest flavor text i've found.

This was one of the big villains in Grapeshot Storm right before the bannings in January.

It *was* a key component of high tide in paper for a few years. I'd argue that the newer, more consistent lists are preferable now. Obviously, it's great for anything related to storm.
There aren't a ton of great madness cards at common rarity, and they tend to be strung out across U B and G. To make things worse, some of the best cycler effects are found in red. A lot of the BG GY shells include things like grave scrabblers. Mongrel and vamp hounds can be added as a BU to discard. Alternatively, you can try to stock up on flashback effects in U R.
Adding the engine to UR fiend is probably your best bet for a competitive deck. Just add more removal and controlling elements to it, so you can make use of the flashback cards (think twice, faithless looting, maybe even moments peace / ancient grudge from the board if you open up G). However, even though it would do fine against the aggro decks of the format, you'd be hurting your mono U Post MU. A lot.

Thanks for the suggestions of madness ckangas. I've been exploring a nice BG option. It's going to be posted in the Tortured Existence thread as soon as i've got my sideboard finished.
I just finished reading that article Dan! It was a great read (David Schaffer is always intersting and informative). But imagine my horror reading that article after I had just finished my BG Tortured Existence deck that utilizes not only Madness but Dredge too!
