Pauper to the People League #1
A Swiss format event.
Event Structure
Rounds will be posted on the forum on Mondays. The opponents will have until the following Sunday to post their results. As this is a Swiss event, there will be no winner/loser brackets. Chris and Mike will keep track of overall scores, but it still behooves the player to keep track himself/herself.
Point System
Each match won will net the winning player a single point. Losses will count for zero. For example, a player winning a match 2-0 will gain two points. The opponent, zero.
In the event of one player not showing up to the round, the player who showed will receive two points. This will only happen after all recourse has been used to get the two players together to play.
The coordinators have obtained a copy of DCI reporter, so the points system will now be based off a Swiss paired event. No-shows will result in a 2-0 win for the player who showed.
Make-up rounds can be scheduled at the event coordinator's discretion, and will need to be held at a mutually agreeable time. In this way, a player can make arrangements for unplanned emergencies, vacations, late work hours, and still be competitive. However, make-up rounds will not be available after the top pairings are posted.
The final rounds will be a Top 16, Top 8, or Top 4, depending on the amount of players in the event. This will be determined once the event is underway.
Etiquette
This is an event for the community, by the community. As such, the attitude of all players is expected to be respectful. We're all friends here, and need to treat each other as such. Healthy competition and “smack talk”, as long as it's understood as such between players, is acceptable. Hate speech will not be tolerated. In the event of such an action, the player should screen print the match and send a copy of it to the coordinators for further action.
First Violation: Warning
Second Violation: Automatic Round loss. Zero points gained.
Third Violation: Tournament disqualification.
Deck Building and Ban List
This event will hold to the official Wizards ban list for Pauper. Cranial Plating and Frantic Search are banned for this event.
The first week of the event's inception will be reserved for deck building and testing.
This is a classic pauper event. All cards that are legal in classic pauper on MTGO will be open to play. Proxies will be allowed, provided the card has been released as a common on MTGO at some point.
Decks will be 60 cards, with a 15 card sideboard. While it is encouraged that a player runs the same deck for the entirety of the event, the deck can be swapped out for another one in the event a player is displeased with it.
These rules are subject to change and amending by the event coordinators. Any player who has ideas for rules or changes, please feel free to let us know.
Good luck, and Pauper to the People.
