Maybe it'll play out differently in our league, but I'm a little bummed because I don't have a deck that'll beat Izzet Post or Infect, but those are at the top of the meta. The top decks in a meta rise up to the top for a reason... they're really good. So if you want to be competitive, unless you've got the next big thing, you're almost obligated to play one of the top tier decks. But I'm not going to play Izzet or Infect... I don't enjoy them. When it comes down to the question of winning with a deck you don't like playing, I think the answer is pretty straightforward. Play what you like. But on the flip side, getting what you liked stomped on isn't so much fun either.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to seeing what people play. I do hope that if our meta just becomes a mirror of the general pauper meta that we elect to run things differently. I mean, we could do a tourney based on Chris and Matt's blue deck challenge. There are all sorts of possibilities that would break up the staleness of the meta. Creature only decks. Spell only decks. Mono-colored only decks. Etc... I definitely think we should just play whatever we want in the first tourney, but for future events it'd be cool to mix it up a bit.

Why don't we make the league a deck building challenge like the blue deck challenge and ban netdecking? There aren't that many people signed up so it shouldn't be too hard to enforce.

For me I think it's down to a variation on Burn, Goblins, or G/W Cloak... I'm not experienced with goblins, but they've been fun so far, whether I win or not. G/W Cloak seems trickier to play, but I've really liked the decks I've played against that use its elements. The deck I 'like' the most is wee dragonauts, but it always seems like a watered down kiln fiend deck... and it doesn't win. Anyways, I'm excited to play some games.

It's an interesting suggestion but I would personally prefer deck building challenges to be side events. I think that the guys need a mainstream-type event if they want to make PttP a thing on the web: something which appeal to most everyone playing Pauper. From there, side events, challenges and other weekly events could be set up, but I feel like the concept of the League as it is suggested is a good first step.

Exactly. The first one should be a straight up metagame type event. I like the challenges for future events, though. Good idea.
